Nuneaton District Scouts

**UPDATED MAY 2012!!**

Risk Assessments and Health and Safety: (the index will be added to as we develop the RA's)

We aim to offer Scouting in a safe way without risk to health, so far as is reasonably practicable.

This includes making sure that:

  • activities are conducted in a safe way without risk to the health of participants.
  • the provision and maintenance of equipment and buildings for members and others is safe and without risk to health and with adequate services for their welfare.
  • information, instruction, training and supervision is provided with the purpose of ensuring the health and safety of all those involved in Scouting activities or who may be affected by them.
  • appropriate arrangements are made to ensure safety and the absence of risks to health in connection with the use, transport, storage and handling of equipment, and substances which are inherently or potentially dangerous.
  • ensure young people and others are informed of any risks prior to events taking place.

The generic RA's are intended as a guidance document and are not intened as a substitute to carrying out a review per event. Leaders must ensure the RA is amended and is suitable for the specific event and documented or recorded as such in your planning. If you require advice please do ensure communication with either the district or county advisor.
