International Holiday For The Scouts
The Drensteinfurt scouts had visitors from the english county Warwickshire for one week

Drensteinfurt. "A little bit of Jamboree comes to Stewwert [coll. german for Drensteinfurt]", said
Sebastian Niester, chairman of the local scout unit. The Drensteinfurt scouts have just returned from
the ten day international scout meeting in Sweden (DZ reported). Seven scouts of the Drensteinfurt
St. Regina unit have continued their journey to the capital of Finland, Helsinki. There, they stayed in
host families for one week with the so called "Home Hospitality" programme.

Some 40 english scouts of Unit 79 from the county Warwickshire also participated in this programme.
They have been guests in the city on river Werse until yesterday. They have been one of a total
number of ten groups staying with scouts in Germany. In groups of two the 14- to 17-year-olds have
been accomodated in host families.

"Despite the weather we had lots of fun!", Niester said in response to the rain showers. A visit to
the public open air swimming pool on monday was changed to a visit of the indoor pool "Maximare"
in Hamm due to bad weather. Facts about Drensteinfurt were given to the group by Pastor Walter
Gröne during a guided tour of the city. Only the sky was the limit when the group was in an indoor
climbing centre in Ahlen on Tuesday.

Highlights on Wednesday were a guided tour of the city of Münster and a visit to lake Aasee. There
the English have met scouts from Bolivia, who are in Germany because of the annual campaign of
DPSG right now.

There has also been a reunion with the two "climate ambassadors" Sally Makofane and Mduduzi
Nqonane from South Africa. They have visited Drensteinfurt a couple of weeks ago for this year's
annual campaign (DZ reported).

On Thursday, the english scouts either spent one day with their host families or took part in a bicycle
tour to Sendenhorst for playing "Swin Golf". In the evening they had a service and a campfire.

Some of the English have been in Germany before, but it was their first visit as scouts. "The children
and the host families have likewise been delighted", said Niester as a summary and emphasized: "We
want to thank all the families for hosting guests, especially the none-scout families."

A Litte "Jamboree"

DRENSTEINFURT. "A little bit of Jamboree comes to Stewwert [coll. german for Drensteinfurt]", said

"There's a partnership between DPSG and scouts from the district of Santa Cruz since 2002", said
Christina Braak, officer for international equity of the Diocese of Münster. She organized the
meeting. There has also been erected a Jurte [black tent]. "I've been to many international scout
meetings. When you see the black tents, you instantly know that german scouts are around", said
Andy Shorter, one of the english unit leaders.
